PRP – Treatment

The injection technique of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for the skin regeneration consists of taking a sample of your own blood and its components through centrifugation in order to isolate and concentrate your platelets in a plasma moiety. We use the Eclypse system for this treatment.

The expected benefits are an improvement of the skin elasticity with a line-smoothing action as well as an improvement of the skin’s tone. The results are visible as soon as the first weeks after the first injection, but in order to get the best results, both in terms of quality and duration, your doctor will aim to suggest to you a protocol including many sessions. The number and time between the sessions will depend on the customized analysis of your type of skin, of the treated areas and of your lifestyle. Furthermore, the process is based on the use of your own cells and natural abilities to regenerate; there can therefore be a natural variation of the results between different individuals. Please do not hesitate to ask for a more precise estimate to your doctor regarding the number of sessions necessary.

PRP being a product that originates directly from your body, very few side effects are to be expected. PRP was in particular used in numerous clinical studies on the healing of surgical and chronic wounds without any instances of serious adverse events.

However, it may occur in some cases:

- Like with any injectable product, the presence of bruises or redness around the injection sites.

- Sensations of warmth and superficial tension at the skin. Those transitory sensations are due to the initiation of the stimulation process and should subside within a maximum of 24 to 36 hours after the treatment. In the event where the symptoms would persist for longer, please contact your doctor.

Only in very few cases and in patients with a significant allergic potential, oedema (fluid retention or swelling) may occur following an inflammatory process, which would be more significant than normal. Immediately notify your doctor so he can prescribe you the appropriate medication. Please also remember to let Dr. Eibock know if you have a history of allergy to any drug or other substances.

The use of PRP in the treatment of skin regeneration is contraindicated in patients with and/or who have suffered of neck cancers in the absence of full remission monitoring. The use of the PRP would also be contraindicated in patients with skin rashes likely to be caused by abnormal cell proliferation processes. Your practitioner will have to carry out a preliminary diagnosis in case of any doubt. Like with any other subcutaneous injection treatments, the concurrent administration of anticoagulants injections with the PRP is contraindicated.
